Pre-Physical Therapy

The human body is a marvel of movement, but injury and illness can radically change things. Physical therapists help people in their journey toward regaining movement.

How does Monmouth prepare me for physical therapy school?

At Monmouth, we know that preparation for physical therapy (PT) school is a unique journey for each student. Our personalized advising and strong liberal arts foundation ensure you’re ready for the academic rigor of graduate school and the professional demands of the field.

You’ll build a strong foundation in the sciences while also developing problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills that PT programs look for. Along the way, you’ll:

  • Get hands-on experience with anatomy in our cadaver lab.
  • Explore the human body through virtual reality anatomy simulations.
  • Build practical skills in exercise science courses.
  • Discover career paths and specializations through internships arranged by departments or the Wackerle Center for Career, Leadership & Fellowships..

By the time you apply for physical therapy school, you’ll be confident, experienced, and ready to take the next step toward becoming a physical therapist.

Our science programs provide a strong academic foundation

Students interested in graduate physical therapy programs have a variety of major options. Most students major in Exercise Science, Biochemistry, Biopsychology or another physical science.

Depending on a student’s preferred major and the graduate schools they’re considering, our faculty advisers will work to customize an academic plan that fits their interests and goals and meets prerequisite requirements for physical therapy graduate programs.
