Medication improves lives, but it can be mixed incorrectly or taken in the wrong dose. Pharmacists help people safely and confidently get the medicine they need.
How does Monmouth prepare me for pharmacy school?
Preparation for pharmacy school looks different for every student, and at Monmouth, personalized advising ensures your path is tailored to your goals. You’ll graduate with a strong foundation in the sciences, plus valuable internship and shadowing experiences that make you ready for the academic rigor of pharmacy school.
Pharmacists help people live better, healthier lives
Pharmacists play a critical role in helping people live healthier lives. While many work in retail settings like your local grocery store or Walgreens, pharmacists are also essential members of healthcare teams in hospitals, clinics, and research environments. They not only fill prescriptions, but also monitor patient symptoms and side effects, counsel patients on safe and effective medicine use, and advise healthcare professionals on drug interactions and treatment options.
At Monmouth, our Pre-Pharmacy program prepares you to step confidently into this vital profession, combining rigorous academics with hands-on experience to set you apart as a graduate school applicant.
Our programs prepare students for successful applications to pharmacy school
Admission to pharmacy school requires the completion of the Pre-Pharmacy prerequisite requirements that are specific to each graduate school. Some schools accept students without a bachelor’s degree who have satisfied prerequisite requirements; most schools prefer applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree.
Additionally, pharmacy schools look for applicants who have a variety of experiences, including scientific research and internship or work experience. Because of the course requirements, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biology are common majors for students who plan to attend pharmacy school.
