Dentists help people feel and look their best. Many dentists also own their own businesses, meaning they have the freedom to choose where, when and how they work.
How does Monmouth get me ready for a career in dentistry?
Dentistry is one of the 10 most trusted and ethical professions in the United States. At Monmouth, you will build the foundational skills required for a successful career in the dental field.
Dentistry requires a wide variety of skills in order to diagnose and treat diseases, injuries and malformations of the teeth and mouth; improve a patient’s appearance; perform surgical procedures; conduct research; and communicate with and educate patients, future dentists and dental hygienists. It also provides opportunity to be your own boss, own a dental practice, and have flexibility between professional and personal life.
Our Pre-Dentistry program is designed to make sure you’re fully ready for those challenges. You’ll gain hands-on experience in laboratories, sharpen your critical thinking and problem-solving skills through our engaging liberal arts curriculum, and receive personalized advising to guide you on the path to dental school. Along the way, you’ll develop both the technical expertise and the human-centered skills that set successful dentists apart.
By the time you graduate, you won’t just be aiming for dental school — you’ll be ready for it.

How our chemistry degree is different from schools like us.
Kieft Scholars is a prestigious academic and scholarship program offered exclusively to our chemistry and biochemistry students. Beloved professor “Doc” Richard Kieft left his $2.3 million estate to our chemistry department.
This endowment funds chemistry-specific academic scholarships, cutting-edge research opportunities, and travel to the annual National American Chemical Society Meeting for our students to present their work.
We empower you as an individual. And to do that, we offer experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

Global Health Minor: We prepare our students to work for lives committed to asking and solving the world’s biggest problems by focusing on improving physical and mental health around the world.
Alpha Chapters: The Monmouth Duo – two of the first national women’s fraternities – were founded at Monmouth. Pi Beta Phi in 1867, and then Kappa Kappa Gamma in 1870. They were trailblazers the for sororities across the nation.
